Diamonds, Triangles and Hexagons

When our family was in Australia recently I was lucky enough to find a gorgeous little patchwork shop called 'The Patchwork Angel' near where we were staying on the Sunshine Coast.  I only say little because of what it looked like from the outside - inside was an amazing array of crafting delight!  I was also delighted that my husband let me find it!

Although the prices weren't that different to what we find in New Zealand (ie A$22/m for fabric - the exception being pre-cuts) the range of fabrics and notions was impressive!  I was delighted to purchase both a 'Sidekick Ruler' and 'Mini Hex N More' by Jaybird Quilts as well as some patterns to go with them.

I have used the mini to make the previously posted 'Sew Together' bag and had great fun making this 'Rock Candy' pattern with my new sidekick!  I have also made a 'Tasty Table Runner' last year using the usual 'Hex N More' ruler.

With this project I used a variety of V and Co fabrics ('Simply Color', 'Simply Style' and 'Color Me Happy') and Kona bleached white.  I love the print from 'Simply Color' that I chose for the binding.

Quilting it was fun - I used my walking foot and made orange peel style curves.  I possibly should have used clear thread rather than the Aurifil natural white?

I'm linking this up with 'Finish It Up Friday' at 'Crazy Mom Quilts'.

Also - I'm entering this in the Jaybird Quilts Sew Along hosted by Sew Sweetness.

I would love to hear about it if you have made something similar...  What Jaybird Quilts pattern should I try next?  I'm looking at the gorgeous work in the above pool and getting lots of inspiration!

  4. At this time it sounds like Movable Type is the preferred blogging platform out there right
now. (from what I've read) Is that what you're using on your blog?

Recently I've had a lot of spamming on my blog so apologies to friends for making it trickier to comment. I value genuine comments even more!
